Day trip to Malmö, sweden
January 20, 2019
taking the Train:
Malmö was a fun day trip for our first weekend here in Denmark. The train ride was super easy and short. We got on the train at Copenhagen Central Station and bought tickets near the entrance. You can also use a Rejsekort card which is like a pre-paid travel card. I bought a card to use for transportation outside of the zones on my transportation pass provided by DIS and all you have to do is tap the card to check in and out of the station. 40 minutes later we made it to the Malmö Central Station and decided to go check out the Malmöhus Castle first. It is Scandanavia's oldest surviving Renaissance castle from 1434 and also a museum. From the castle we went to a cafe closer to the historical city center that we heard about from a budget-friendly travel book of Europe. The Folk & Rock cafe is a record shop and cafe + a cool place to check out! There were a lot of small stores and shopping areas around this area so we walked around for a little and eventually ended the day seeing St. Peters Church. The Gothic style church was from the 14th century and is the oldest church in Malmö. So lots of fun adventures from one afternoon in a different country, and I am excited that my class is going back there for a trip on our core course week.
