Exercising in Cope

March 1, 2019

Gym Memberships:

I never got a gym membership while in Copenhagen, and I'm actually not sure I knew anyone who did while we were here. A few people mentioned that they had trouble getting a membership before getting a CPR number, but they went in person to the gym and were able to sign up for a 3 month plan.

DIS has a list of gyms around the city here. There are also club sports you can join and the DIS activity fair at the beginning of the semester has a lot of clubs come by for students to get information.

Outdoor Running Spots:

I mainly got use to running outside around Copenhagen. There was a big park really close to me called Fælledparken in the Norrebro area, and also the man made lakes on the way to DIS were a popular running spot for a lot of people. The lakes were about a 4 mile loop all the way around and Fælledparken had a smaller 1 mile loop.

Biking:

Biking places was actually a good way to get exercise around Copenhagen. I biked to and from school everyday which was around a 15 minute route each way. I really wanted to do a fun, long bike ride before I left but never got to do it sadly.

If you are looking for a long bike trip, these are some of the ones I heard of...

  • Biking to one of the forgotten giant statues

  • The protected nature part of Copenhagen past the BIG 8 house in Orestad

  • From Copenhagen to Helsingnor
